Power outage hits two towns

Thursday, April 19, 2007

A broken insulator is to blame for widespread power outages in Bainbridge and Roachdale Thursday morning, according to a spokeswoman for Duke Energy.

Approximately 456 customers lost electricity at around 7:30 this morning after two substations went down, Duke's Angeline Protogere said.

The first substation is located two blocks east of Roachdale Road in Roachdale and the other is 3 miles west of Barnard on Ind. 236. Protogere said she did not know how the insulator was broken.

She said customers can expect to have power restored at around 10 a.m.
