CLAYTON -- The North Putnam boys' baseball team defeated the Cascade Cadets, 6-2, on the road Monday night.

The Cougars saw all of their runs come in the top of the first inning as the team hit five singles and two doubles.

On the night, Kyle Rooker was 3-for-4 and Brian Blaydes was 2-for-3. Jordan Berry brought some heavy lumber for the Cougar, going 2-for-3, with a double and a triple.

Jake Mullis remained perfect on the season, throwing for 11 strikeouts and six hits.

"I thought this was a big conference win for us," coach Norm Fish said. "Cascade is probably as good of pitching we've seen yet and we jumped on them early."

Fish also expressed some displeasure with the teams base running but also noted his team hit the ball well enough.

"We had some base running errors tonight I was not happy with," Fish commented. "Overall, we hit the ball pretty well."
