Staff reports

As of standings released after Thursday's games, North Putnam's baseball team continues to have a handle on the WCC. Although Cascade handed the Cougars their first conference loss of the year with 9-4 win in Bainbridge Tuesday night, the Cougars have still won three more games than second-place Greencastle.

The Cougars are 9-1 in the WCC and 12-2 overall. The Tiger Cubs moved to 6-2 in conference with two wins over Monrovia this week. They stand at 9-3 on the year.

South Putnam stands at 2-5 in conference and 4-7 overall. However, Cloverdale got the better of the Eagles in a makeup game Wednesday night, 5-2. The Clovers are now 2-8 in the WCC and 3-10 overall.

Putnam County players lead the conference in four of five major hitting categories.

In doubles, the top five are all county players. North's Griffen Dahlstrom leads with five. Greencastle's Eric Burgeson and Kendall Faust as well as North's Rooker and Jordan Berry are in a four-way tie for second with four doubles each.

In home runs, Nees and Rooker are tied with four. The Cougars' Mullis is in third with three. Four others have two each.

On the mound, Putnam County players display a similar dominance, holding the top spot in all three categories.

Mullis holds the league lead in both wins (6-0) and strikeouts (61). North Putnam's Brayden Dahlstrom has the second best record at 3-0. Patterson holds the third spot for GHS at 3-1.

Behind Mullis in strikeouts are the Clovers' Nees in third with 48, and Brayden Dahlstrom in fourth with 35.
