Walter Allen Nelson, 72, Bainbridge, died Monday in Heartland of Prestwick.

Born in Marshall, Ill., he was the son of Hobart and Louise (Walters) Nelson.

A 1952 graduate of Marshall High School, he received an honorary degree in engineering from Purdue University for his work in hydraulic and pneumatic fields. He was founder and owner of Industrial Hydraulics Inc. (IHI) from 1969-97. He was a member of the Austin Healey Club, Fluid Power Association and N.F.I.B., as well as Whitestone Christian Church at New Winchester.

Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Audrey Griffith; son, Larry Allen Nelson and wife Marsha, Orlando, Fla.; daughters Melinda Sue Stokes and husband Jeff, Lafayette, and Sheryl Kay Adamson and husband, Bruce, Danville; three sisters, eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two infant brothers and one infant granddaughter.

Services will be at noon Friday at Whitestone Chris-tian Church, New Winchester, with inurnment at Bainbridge Cemetery.

Visitation is 10 a.m. until service time.

Memorial contributions can be made to American Heart Association or Parkinson's Awareness Association.
