Two-time state track champion Andy Weatherford received the honor for the county boys.
In his four years at Greencastle, Weatherford has used his hard work ethic to achieve high standards in the classroom as well as the track.
Academically, Weatherford is in the top 10 percent of his class and is a two-time academic letter winner. He is also a four-time cumulative honors member, an honorable mention academic all-state cross country and all-conference academic winner in cross country.
On the sports side, Weatherford has literally dominated cross country and track.
In cross country, he is a four-time Most Valuable Player, four-time county champion, four-time sectional champion, three-time West Central Conference champion, two-time all-state, two-time team captain and a member of the Footlocker Midwest All-Regional team.
Weatherford is the two-time defending state champion in the 1,600-meter run. Over his four-year track career, Weatherford has put up numbers the almost boggle the mind. In addition to being the two-time state champ, he also is a three-time 1,600 meter county, WCC conference, and sectional champion. He's also a two-time regional champion and holds the regional record in the 1,600 meter. Weatherford also has clocked the eighth fastest mile in Indiana history.
Even with his busy sports schedule, Weatherford finds the time to be an active member in numerous extracurricular activities.
He is a two-time National Honors Society member, a two-time Spell Bowl participant and a four-year Latin Club member.
"Andy is and has been one of the most dedicated student-athletes I have ever witnessed," GHS Athletic Director Scott Weltz said. "His tenacity on and off the track, as well as in the classroom, explains why he has achieved so much in just a four-year career."
Weatherford is continuing his quest for a third-straight state title as he competes today in the Lafayette Jefferson Regional.
Megan Clodfelter is a member of the GHS volleyball, dance and track teams.
Clodfelter is in the top 10 percent of her class and was also named WCC Academic All-Conference and is a four-year cumulative honor award winner.
"Megan is very dedicated in striving toward excellence," Weltz said. "She exemplifies this every day in the way she accomplishes her work as an athlete and as a student."
In volleyball, Clodfelter was named All-WCC and was two-time team captain. She was also a two-time dance team captain.
Clodfelter is also a four-time regional qualifier and placed ninth at the state meet as a member of the 400-meter relay team last year. She is a two-time MVP and captain of the track team. Clodfelter also received all-state and was an IHSAA participant award winner.
In addition to athletics, Clodfelter was vice-president of the student council, class officer and a member of the Pep Club/Glee Club. She was an ambassador, Secretary of the National Honors Society, PIE coalition and was involved with choir.
Clodfelter will compete at state as a member of the regional record-breaking 400-meter relay team again this year Saturday June 2.
