Cloverdale native Chad Collins hits a drive at a Nationwide Tour event.

The start of Chad Collins' 2007 season on the Nationwide Tour could be described as rocky at best.

Collins has made four-of-13 cuts this season.

Collins best finish so far this season came in the Henrico County Open where he shot a nine-under par to tie for 13th. Collins opened the tournament strong, standing at seven-under as the third round began. Collins shot a two-over par in the third round but came back strong in the final round. He fired off a four-under final round capped by an eagle on the final hole to secure his tie for 13th.

In his most recent full tournament, the Rochester Area Charities Showdown, Collins tied for 54th with a five-under four round total.

Again, the third round proved to stall his advancement. After going six-under in the first two rounds, he shot a plus-one in the third round and an even par final round.

In the stat department, Collins is currently ranked 131st in driving distance with a 280.2 average and is ranked 81st in scoring average with 71.82. His best round of the season came at the Chitimacha Louisiana Open when he shot a five-under 67 in the third round of play.

Collins competed in the Knoxville Open this week and shot a one-over par 73 to tie for 82nd place. Collins first round included three bogies and two birdies.

In the second round, Collins fired a one-under 71, but his 144 total through two rounds was not enough to continue playing through the weekend. His second round saw four birdies drop chased by three bogies.
