Edgar P. Fagin

Edgar P. Fagin, 85, Terre Haute, formerly of Riley, died Saturday at Harborside Healthcare.

Born in Vigo County, he was the son of Charles D. and Elsie (Taylor) Fagin.

A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he retired as postmaster at the Riley Post Office in 1975 after 33 years of service.

He was a charter member and past commander of Riley American Legion Post 328, former member of the united War Veterans Council and the Vigo County American Legion Council. He was also past noble grand of the Odd Fellows Lodge, a member of Riley Masonic Lodge 30, a graduate of the Dale Carnegie School of Public Speaking, and past president of the National League of Postmasters. He also served as a deputy sheriff for four years.

He married Vivian Ray, who died April 21, 1999.

Surviving are two sons, Paul W. Fagin and wife Carol, Greencastle, and Thomas E. Fagin and wife Denise, Terre Haute; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at DeBaun Springhill Chapel with Rev. Jeff Lee officiating.

Burial with military rites will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Visitation is 11 a.m. Wednesday until service time.
