Born in Chicago, Ill., he was the son of Harry James and Elsie Margaret (Zeplin) Gillen.
A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, he was a truck driver for Mid-America Trucking in Chicago.
He married Peggy Joan Bishop on May 2, 1950. She died Aug. 29, 2004.
Surviving are a sister, Patricia Janes; brother Richard Gillen; caregiver and sister-in-law, Jessie Lucas and husband Stanley, Cloverdale; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, sister Marolyn Bamaski and brother Jack Gillen.
Services will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale, with Pastor Wes McClure officiating. Burial will be in Cloverdale Cemetery.
Visitation is 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday.
