James H. Kendall, 86, Greencastle, died Sunday. He was born on May 16, 1921 to Jesse and Goldie Custis Kendall.
He was a veteran of WW II and served in the Army. He married Beryl Surber April 30, 1946. She preceded him in death in June, 1989.
He was a retired truck driver from Motor Freight, Greencastle. He was co-founder of the Deer Creek Coon Hunter
s Association and a pilot.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Mary Sapp, infant daughter Thelma Jane Kendall, and son Ricky Kendall.
Surviving are children Melvin Kendall and wife Sheri, Terry Kendall and wife Pam, Patricia Arzola, Sheila Tucker, all of Greencastle, James F. Kendall and wife Joan, Rosalee Halcomb, and Carolyn Harris, Tallahassee, Fla.; 15 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle, with Rev. Paul Bowen officiating. Burial will be in Fillmore Cemetery.
Visitation will be two hours prior to service at the funeral home.
