Clay Conservation Expo set Aug. 21

The Clay County Soil and Water Conservation District along with Youngblood Farms and the Sycamore Trails RC&D invite the public to the 2007 Conservation Expo. The Expo will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21 at the Farm of Gerry, Brad, and Doug Youngblood. Supper and drinks will be provided.

Reservations by Aug. 16 will be appreciated.

There will be four informative sessions to help manage a conservation tillage system.

The speakers include:

* Larry Brown on Tiling, Dr. Brown is with the Overholt Drainage Education and Research Program. Brown will speak on strategies to use when managing waters for agricultural benefits.

* Matt Mace will speak on Fertilizer and Lime with No-till. Mace is the Crop Sales Specialist for Ceres Solutions in Brazil.

* Reducing Compaction will be addressed by Barry Fisher, State Agronomist, NRCS. Fisher directs activities of the Indiana Conservation Tillage Initiative (ICTI) advancing conservation tillage technology and identifying successful steps to the adoption of No-Till and High Residue Farming.
