Illa Gwen Collins Witt

Illa Gwen Collins Witt, 76, died Saturday.

Born in Morning View, Ky., she was the daughter of Marion Francis and Anna Mae Carlisle Collins. She married James E. Witt on Oct. 31, 1953, and he survives.

She was a 1949 graduate of Simon Kenton High School and later attended beautician school in Kentucky. She was a telephone operator for Southwestern or Cincinnati Bell in Ohio and worked at Asbury Towers in Greencastle for 33 years.

She was a member of Brick Chapel Methodist Church.

Additional survivors include a brother, Marion F. Collins and wife Wilma, Morning View, Ky.; two sisters, Nathalie Bailey, Independence, Ky., and Doris McDonough, Dry Ridge, Ky.; three daughters, Gandy Paris, Poland, Kristi Endo, Greencastle, and Lana O'Neal, Coatesville; a son, Hank Witt and wife Debbie, Poland; 13 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Brick Chapel Methodist Church.
