Olin K. Vicars

Olin K. Vicars, 68, Greencastle, died Friday morning.

Born in Lee County, Va., he was the son of Theodore R. and Callie Lou (Robinette) Vicars.

A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, he was a truck driver for National By-Products in Indianapolis for 23 years, retiring in 2001. He was a member of Greencastle Masonic Lodge, Teamsters Local 135 and had attended Harvest Ministries in Greenfield.

He married Bonnie Marie Egan on Aug. 11, 1958, and they recently celebrated 49 years of marriage. She survives.

Also surviving are a son, Kenneth Wayne Vicars and wife Tina, Greenfield; three brothers, Joel Lee Vicars and wife Julia, J.R. Vicars and wife Edna, and Oscar A. Vicars and wife Carolyn, all of Kingsport, Tenn.; three sisters, Hassie G. Morgan, Knoxville, Tenn., Shelby Jean Thomas and husband Larry, and Eula Onita Gray and husband Jr., both of Kingsport, Tenn.; five grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, one great-grandson, seven step-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Randy Allen Vicars, grandson Joshua Matthew Vicars, and sister Bertie Mae Keeling.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle, with Pastor Ron Mills officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Little Walnut Cemetery, Greencastle.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Sunday with a Masonic Lodge service at 7 p.m.
