CRAWFORDSVILLE -- In boy's varsity soccer Tues night, Greencastle traveled to Crawfordsville and defeated the Athenians 4-2.

The hosts got on the scoreboard first as senior Jesus Chavez was able to get a Shot past Greencastle keeper Ryan Payne eight minutes into the game.

Midway through the half, Pat Eiteljorge was able to split two Athenian defenders and score an unassisted goal to tie the game.

The Tiger Cubs gained the lead with 11:05 remaining in the period, when Buzz Deer delivered a long free kick into the Athenians' penalty area, and Greg Lilly was able to head it past keeper Royce Altamirano.

The Tiger Cub lead was short lived, though, as Chavez fired in his second goal of the match with 2:59 left in the half.

The score was knotted at two at the half.

Greencastle regained the lead when Lilly added his second goal of the night off an assist from Griffin Moore with 26:58 to play in the game.

The Tiger Cubs controlled possession for most of the second half. Crawfordsville's frustration seemed to continue to increase, leading to a foul on GHS freshman Cody Watson inside the penalty area with 13:07 remaining. Senior Eric Davis put the penalty kick past Altamirano to increase the Greencastle lead to 4-2.

The GHS junior varsity lost to Crawfordsville, 3-0.

The Tiger Cubs (2 -1) will travel to Danville Thursday to take on the Warriors.
