GHS volleyball drops WCC opener

Monday, August 27, 2007

Greencastle volleyball dropped its record to 1-4 on the season with a loss to Speedway Saturday morning at McAnally Center. The loss moves the Tiger Cubs to 0-1 on the season.

After losing their first two games 25-20, 25-19, the Tiger Cubs found the resilience to win game three 25-20. However, the Sparkplugs finished them off in game four, 25-14.

Coach Trish Lowe said her squad needs to bring the same effort and intensity to every point if it expects to improve.

"I am very disappointed in our consistency," Lowe said. "We play great for 2 or 3 points and then we just relax."

The best thing the coach said her team can do is keep moving and working toward its next match.

"We are going to have to pick each other up and move on," she said. "During volleyball season there is no time to stop and feel sorry for yourself. We must move on and get ready to play the next match."

The next match comes at 6 p.m. Tuesday when GHS hosts South Vermillion.
