Local rider charges to the top, earns wins in Indiana and?Tennessee

EDINBURGH -- Putnam County resident, 11-year-old Trevor Pruitt and his horse Good Ole Benito Bars (Doc), won the Indiana State National Barrel Horse Association finals in Edinburg on July 15.

Trevor and Doc were one of 476 entries in the Open barrel race. They recorded the fastest time for the four-day event, taking first place in the championship open barrels, first place in the Youth barrels and second and third place in other barrel classes. For his win, Pruitt was awarded cash, prizes and a trophy saddle.

Pruitt followed up his State win by taking top honors at the Emily Prince Memorial Barrel Race at the Milan Saddle Club in Milan, Tennessee. He won the Open and Youth barrel races. Again Pruitt won cash, saddle and a traveling trophy.

The NBHA, headquartered in Augusta, Georgia, is the largest barrel racing organization in the world. The NBHA has more than 23,000 members of all ages across the United States and affiliates in five countries.
