Helen Louise Higgins, 76, Crawfordsville, formerly of Russellville, died Sunday morning at St. Clare Medical Center.

Born in Shannondale, she was the daughter of Ora Lee and Mary (Mikewell) Miles.

A homemaker, she had been a teacher's aide at Russellville school, and was formerly employed at Singer, Hillman's Jewelers, Colleen's at Crawfordsville, and the Greencastle Wal-Mart. She had also operated a sewing shop in her home. She was a member of Russellville Community Church and had attended Lake and Montgomery County schools.

She married Robert E. Higgins on Oct. 22, 1948 at Waynetown. He survives.

Also surviving are a son, Ronald Higgins and wife Sue, Russellville; a daughter Linda Sue McGaughey and husband Ray, Russellville; sister Carolyn Frey, Sebastian, Fla.; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by brother Eugene Miles and sister Bertha Gray.

Graveside services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Hebron Cemetery, Russellville with Rev. Mike Whitacre officiating.

Visitation is 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday at Machledt and Servies Funeral Home, Waveland.
