GHS stuffs Tri-West in four games

A big game at the net from Olivia Miller coupled with a large assist game from Kelsey Hennette, helped the Greencastle volleyball team earn its fifth victory of the season on Thursday. The Tiger Cubs defeated Tri-West in four games 25-15, 17-25, 25-12 and 25-21.

"This was a good win for us," GHS coach Trish Lowe said.

Miller delivered at the net, recording 16 blocks, four stuff blocks, 19 kills, while Hennette set her teammate up an incredible 30 times, along with five blocks and one kill.

"Olivia (Miller) took control at the net hitting and blocks and Kelsey had a new high assist total," Lowe commented.

Kayla Nobles had a solid game for the Tiger Cubs with two kills and 11 digs. She was also strong at the service line, going 22-of-23 including three aces.

"Kayla Nobles served us into the match aggressively," Lowe said.

Brooke Lewis had six kills and 15 digs, while Veronica Sawyers added eight digs and one assist. Sarah Land was a stopper at the net, recording seven blocks, one stuff block, five kills, four assists and six digs.

Kristen Flint contributed 16 digs, eight kills, nine blocks and two stuff blocks, with Samantha Kuchler adding seven digs.

"We are looking forward to the county competition on Saturday," Lowe said.

The GHS junior varsity lost 25-19, 12-25 and 4-15.

Greencastle will compete in the Putnam County Tournament at 9 a.m. Saturday.
