A Greencastle teen was injured in a one-car accident at 10:17 p.m. Wednesday in Floyd Township.

Deputy Adam Hull reported that Melissa K. Yeagley, 17, 3204 E. CR 275 North, Greencastle, was driving north in a 2003 Hyundai Elantra when she lost control of the car in loose gravel. The car struck a tree head-on, and Yeagley sustained a leg injury. She was transported to Hendricks Regional Health via Operation Life ambulance.

Damage was estimated at $1,000-$2,500.

Several other accidents were investigated recently by the Putnam County Sheriff's Dept.

* At 4:40 p.m. Tuesday, two vehicles collided at 4369 S. CR 325 West.

Deputy Josh Boller reported that Brandi D. Howlett, 23, Greencastle, was driving north in a 1995 Ford Taurus when she slowed to turn right into a driveway. Her car was struck by a 2000 GMC pickup driven by Aaron D. Clark, 20, 1301 E. Ind. 42, Cloverdale.

Clark told Boller he was approaching two vehicles when the first one turned into a driveway. He had to swerve to miss the second vehicle, but struck the one turning into the driveway.

Damage was estimated at $2,500-$5,000.

* At 11:30 a.m. Monday, a car hit a deer on U.S. 40 south of CR 800 West.

Sgt. Don Pettit reported that Roberta Williams, 37, 9117 S. CR 765 West, Reelsville, was driving south in a 2005 Dodge Neon when a deer ran in front of her car.

Damage was estimated at $1,000-$2,500.

* At 5:03 p.m. Sunday, a van ran through a fence and into a field along Manhattan Road.

Reserve Deputy Mike Downing reported that Nicole Raswell Chevrier, 24, Brazil, was driving south in a 1999 Chevrolet minivan when the vehicle ran off the road. The driver said she had reached behind the seat to give her infant son a bottle. However, Central Dispatch had radioed earlier that the van was driving erratically. Trooper Adam Edwards gave Chevrier a field sobriety test, which she failed. She was taken to Putnam County Hospital for additional testing, and was arrested for driving while intoxicated and child endangerment. Her 15-month-old son was turned over to his grandfather.

Assisting Downing was assisted at the scene by Deputy Craig Sibbitt and Trooper Edwards.

Damage was estimated at $1,000-$2,500.

* At 2:50 p.m. Saturday, four people were injured when a truck collided head-on with a car.

Deputy Ronnie Campbell reported that Bradley Green, 23, Camby, was driving south in a 1997 Ford 350 when the driver looked back to check his load in the dump truck. When he looked back, he was in the other land, and collided head-on with a 2005 Chrysler driven by Scott a. White, 36, Rockville.

White complained of arm pain. His passengers, Wendy L. White, 34, and Erica White, 10, both of Rockville, were both transported to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis for treatment of injuries.

Assisting Campbell at the scene was Deputy Sibbitt.

Damage was estimated at $5,000-$10,000.

* At 9:43 a.m. Saturday, a truck hit a concrete barrier on Robert Weist Avenue in Cloverdale.

Deputy Campbell reported that Max W. Cassida, 52, Quincy, was driving west in a 2006 Dodge Dakota when he turned too sharply and hit the barrier.

Damage was estimated at $1,000-$2,500.

* At 6:10 p.m. Friday, a car hit a house at 5095 VanBibber Lake Estates.

Deputy Doug Nally reported that Betty J. Scofield, 83, Indianapolis, was driving a 2003 Honda Civic when her foot slipped off the brake onto the accelerator. The car sped up and crashed into the residence. The occupants of the car were unable to exit without assistance from VanBibber Lake firefighters.

Deputy Sibbitt assisted at the scene. Damage was estimated at $10,000-$25,000.

* At 7:20 p.m. Aug. 29, a vehicle overturned into a ditch on Ind. 240 near CR 850 East.

Deputy Nally reported that Bruce R. Borden, 54, 1022 Avenue D, Greencastle, was driving east in a 1995 Geo Tracker when he tried to light a cigarette. The wind from the open window blew the cigarette back into his face, Borden told Nally. He looked up and saw another vehicle and swerved off the road into a grassy field and a ditch/waterway where the Geo flipped onto its top.

Nally was assisted at the scene by Deputy Sibbitt and Greencastle Officer Ed Wilson.

Damage was estimated at $5,000-$10,000.

* At 1:21 p.m. Aug. 29, two vehicles collided on Interstate 70 at the 37-mile marker.

Deputy Campbell reported that David P. Hobbs, 63, Carbon, was driving west in a 2004 Jeep when he changed lanes due to road construction. His vehicle scraped a 2004 Chevrolet Impala driven by Joseph T. Grieb, 38, Terre Haute.

Damage was estimated at less than $750.

Putnam County Jail

Four people were booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* Terri Lee Edwards, 38, Noblesville, was booked in at 5:55 p.m. Wednesday for theft. He was arrested by Civil Deputy Mike O'Hair.

* Benjamin David Farris, 34, Fillmore, was booked in at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday for dealing in cocaine or methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine. He was arrested by Deputies Doug Nally and Josh Boller.

* Joseph Roger Moser, 39, Indianapolis, was booked in at 8:24 p.m. Wednesday on an out-of-county hold. He was arrested by Trooper Phil Lubbers.

* Russell Allen Benson, 31, Greencastle, was booked in at 3:34 a.m. Thursday for public intoxication. He was arrested by Deputy Adam Hull.
