Putnam County Jail

Several people were booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* Marcus Doll, 18, Reelsville, was booked in at 7:32 p.m. Friday for residential entry, burglary, mischief, false reporting or informing and theft. He was arrested by Reserve Deputy Joe Tesmer.

* Robert Sims, 18, Fillmore, was booked in at 8 p.m. Friday for theft, false reporting or informing, burglary, residential entry and mischief. He was arrested by Tesmer.

* Terry Maynard, 18, Greencastle, was booked in at 8:04 p.m. Friday for false reporting or informing, burglary, theft, residential entry and mischief. He was arrested by Tesmer.

* Joseph Hynes, 37, Indianapolis, was booked in at 11:41 p.m. Friday for driving never licensed and receiving stolen property. He was arrested by Greencastle Officer Charles Inman.

* Eric Manahan, 42, Cloverdale, was booked in at 12:54 a.m. Saturday for driving while intoxicated. He was released at 6:32 a.m. Saturday after posting bond.

* Michael A. Whitaker, 31, Harmony, was booked in at 1:17 a.m. Saturday for driving while intoxicated. He was released at 9:17 a.m. Saturday after posting bond.

* Michael Bain, 22, Cloverdale, was booked in at 3:27 a.m. Saturday for public intoxication, violation of probation and disorderly conduct. He was arrested by Cloverdale Officer Nathan Clary.

* Ray Chapin, 21, Cloverdale, was booked in at 3:35 a.m. Saturday for public intoxication, disorderly conduct and violation probation. He was arrested by Officer Clary and released at 3:50 a.m. on his own recognizance.

* Cheryl Ann Hoover, 22, Greencastle, was booked in at 4:17 a.m. Saturday for resisting law enforcement, public intoxication and disorderly conduct. She arrested by Officer Inman and released at 4:17 a.m. on her own recognizance.

* Dustin Scott Frye, 22, Cloverdale, was booked in at 4:42 a.m. Friday for driving while intoxicated and public intoxication. He was released at 10:40 a.m. after posting bond.

* Jayne Ann Selvia, 47, Cloverdale, was booked in at 4:58 a.m. Saturday for driving while intoxicated. She was released at 12:03 p.m. after posting bond.

* Ryan Foster Copner, 23, Roachdale, was booked in at 8:44 p.m. Saturday for domestic battery, disorderly conduct and resisting law enforcement. He was arrested by Marshal Mike Mahoy.

* Kesha Lester, 22, Roachdale, was booked in at 9:31 p.m. Saturday for domestic battery. She was arrested by Marshal Mahoy.

* Kenneth Burchett, 33, Monrovia, was booked in at 10:11 p.m. Saturday for violation of home detention. He was arrested at PCJ.

* Dylan Monnett, 23, Cloverdale, was booked in at 4:15 a.m. Sunday for public intoxication and driving while intoxicated. He was released at 1:54 p.m. Sunday after posting bond.

* Jarod Kyle Unger, 28, Greencastle, was booked in at midnight Monday for aggravated battery. He was arrested by Deputy Tesmer.

* Jay C. Unger, 54, Greencastle, was booked in at 12:14 a.m. Monday for aggravated battery. He was arrested by Deputy Craig Sibbitt.

Sheriff's Dept.

Three accidents were investigated recently by the Putnam County Sheriff's Dept.

* One person was injured in a 9:10 a.m. Thursday accident on U.S. 231 at Primrose Lane.

Lt. Danny Wallace reported that Dana M. Amis, 33, 174 n. CR 175 Eat, Greencastle, was stopped southbound to turn left into a driveway when her 2001 Chevrolet Suburban was rear-ended by a 2005 Toyota Rav4, driven by Angela R. Bewsey, 45, 8808 E. CR 1050 South, Cloverdale. Bewsey said she could not stop in time to avoid the collision. She complained of neck pain following the accident.

Damage was estimated at $10,000-$25,000.

* At 8:54 p.m. Saturday, a car went off CR 550 North near Heritage Drive.

Deputy Mike Downing reported that Mary E. Cox, 23, 1216 Bloomington St., Greencastle, was driving north in a 1989 Ford Taurus when she missed a curve in the road. Her car hit a post.

Damage was estimated at $1,000-$2,500.

* At 10:49 a.m. Sunday, two vehicles collided in the lot of Harmony Baptist Church on U.S. 231.

Deputy Ronnie Campbell reported that William J. App, 50, 3026 S. CR 550 West, Greencastle, was backing up in a 2003 Dodge pickup when he failed to see a 2000 Chrysler Voyager and backed into the vehicle driven by Scott W. Parrish, 37, Clayton.

Damage was estimated at $750-$1,000.

Greencastle Fire Dept.

Greencastle firefighters responded to several runs recently, most being false alarms.

On Thursday:

* At 9:12 a.m., firefighters went to 1321 Bloomington St. for an auto accident. They cleared the scene at 9:46 a.m.

* At 12:21 p.m., firefighters went to 24 Gillespie St. for a smoke scare due to a washing machine belt smoking. They cleared the scene at 12:42 p.m.

* At 3:09 p.m., firefighters responded to an alarm at 403 E. Seminary St. They cleared the scene at 3:37 p.m.

On Saturday:

* At 10:05 a.m., firefighters assisted Operation Life ambulance personnel at 1064 Judson Court. They cleared the scene at 10:27 a.m.

* At 3:43 p.m., firefighters went to 620 Anderson St. for an alarm set off by a power outage. They cleared the scene at 3:58 p.m.

* At 5 p.m., firefighters went to 809 Draper St. for a smoke alarm due to cooking. They cleared the scene at 5:27 p.m.

* At 6:59 p.m., firefighters went to 509 S. Locust for a false alarm. They cleared the scene at 7:05 p.m.

* At 7:03 p.m., firefighters went to 904 S. College for a smoke detector malfunction. They cleared the scene at 7:36 p.m.
