Teen injured when hit by car

Thursday, September 27, 2007

A Greencastle teen was injured Thursday afternoon after being struck by car in the downtown area.

Greencastle Police Officer Chris Helmer said that 14-year-old Micha Querry and his friend were riding their bicycles across Jackson Street, just south of the courthouse square, at around 4 p.m., when Querry was struck by a four-door sedan.

The windshield of the car was severely cracked on the driver's side and Querry was on the ground beside it after the accident. It appeared he struck the windshield.

The driver of the car, Mary Anthony, 49, Greencastle, told police she didn't see the boys crossing the street and was unable to avoid the collision.

Medics from Putnam County Operation Life transported the boy, who was conscious, to the hospital with unknown injuries.
