BAINBRIDGE -- The North Putnam girls' soccer team ended its regular season earning a tie with South Vermillion 1-1 on Wednesday night.

North Putnam held the Wildcats scoreless for much of the first half, but South Vermillion hit a goal with 7:47 on the clock.

In the second half, with the clock winding down, the Cougars' Elsiana Crosby connected on a goal with an assist from Taylor White.

"We made goal scoring opportunities all night, but couldn't connect," Cougar head coach Scott Spencer said. "We kept the pressure on them consistently throughout the match, but couldn't quite find the final touch to do the job. I credit South's goalie on a great game. She kept them in it all night.

"After about a dozen or more crosses that were just out of reach of our strikers or swallowed by the goalie, we finally connected late in the game to tie. We knew we'd get one if we just kept up the pressure. If it had come a little earlier, we might just have had enough momentum to get another, but time just ran out," Spencer commented.

The Cougars end the season with a 3-11-2 record and 1-3 in the WCC.
