Ruth Omadene Decker

Ruth Omadene Decker, 94, died Friday at her brother's residence in Muncie following an extended illness.

Born in Greencastle, she was the daughter of Henry J. and Effie "Marie" Murphy Smith, and attended Greencastle Schools.

She moved to Muncie in 1935 and was employed at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company during World War II, and at Ball Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Halteman Village Baptist Church.

Surviving are a son, Jack H. Decker, Muncie; a daughter, Shirley Flowers and husband James, Kingston, Tenn.; four grandchildren; two brothers, Rev. Donald Ray Smith and wife ZoDell, Mission, Texas, and Rev. Bob Smith and wife Leslie, Muncie; her sister, Joan Clifford and husband Marvin, Greencastle; 11 great grandchildren, 15 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Elmer Thomas Decker, in 1996; two grandchildren; a great-grandson; three brothers, Walter Richard Smith, Henry Smith, and Cecil Smith; and three sisters, Dorothy Salisbury, Madonna Neese Coffman and Lois Evans.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Parson Mortuary, Muncie, with Pastor Ron Ross and Rev. Bob Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory.

Visitation is one hour prior to the services Monday at the mortuary.
