Wednesday, October 17, 2007

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday for Tracy L. Benassi, the 34-year-old Fillmore man who was involved in a car accident last Friday with his wife Tonya Benassi.

According to police reports, the couple was driving their mid-1990s Chevrolet Camaro on CR 75 North (Right-of-Way Road), near Fillmore when the vehicle left the roadway and landed on the railroad tracks below.

Both of the Benassis were airlifted to the hospital following the accident. Tracy died Monday at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

The deputy who responded to the scene said he did not know what caused the couple's car to go off the roadway and crash. The investigation at the scene revealed no skid marks or other visible signs of a cause, Deputy Gregg Slover reported.

Benassi is survived by his wife and two children, Zachary and Chelsea Benassi, both of Fillmore.

A full obituary for Benassi is printed on Page 14A.
