Sheriff’s Dept.

One accident was investigated by the Putnam County Sheriff’s Dept. recently.

• At 4:15 p.m. Wednesday, three vehicles were involved in an accident on U.S. 40 near CR 475 East. Deputy Ronnie Campbell reported that Christopher D. hunter, 17, Coatesville, was driving west in a 1996 Chevrolet Lumina when he saw a dump truck going across the median.

He said he could not stop and slid into the dump truck, which sent his car into the eastbound traffic. That caused eastbound driver Teresa R. Ryder, 42, Indianapolis, to swerve her 2003 GMC Envoy. Her vehicle spun through the median and stopped on the north side of the westbound lane. The 1979 International dump truck was driven by William L. Arnold, Greencastle.
