A woman rescued from a burning vehicle by four local teenagers last week died Wednesday, after succumbing to her injuries.

Taylor Waldron, 32, sustained serious burns after loosing control of her pick-up truck on U.S. 231 near Fincastle. Passers-by pulled her from the truck before flames engulfed the entire cab. Waldron sustained third-degree burns to more than 45 percent of her body and suffered a broken leg and cervical vertebra.

Waldron moved to Greencastle in February where she worked as a hairdresser. She was the caretaker of her three young nephews.

"We love Taylor for her selfless generosity," said close friend Ronnie Pejril," who added that she and her family received an outpouring of support form the Greencastle community.

"We ask that the community keep Taylor and her family in their prayers," Pejril said.

The Marion County Coroner's office is investigating Waldron's death.

  • Through the self-less acts of 4 teenagers, Taylor Waldron didn't die alone and her suffering was minimized. I'm sure Terry was grateful for their heroism and these 4 should forever be proud of their ability to actively participate in life rather than being a spectator.

  • Thanks guys, your efforts stopped a beautiful, intelligent angel from burning to death, i respect the families wishes to be left alone. Taylor Thomas should pursue a career in Law Enforcement of be an actual Fire Fighter with the bravery he showed that night.

  • It's been 3 1/2yrs now and I still miss you sooooo much! I have never been away from you this long in my life since the day you were born.... I was there when they brought you home, 3yrs between us and we were the only one's who "knew" what the other was thinking or feeling, even if we didn't say a word..... I am grateful you were my baby sister and I had the pleasure of taking care of you throughout our lives.... I almost lost my life 3 mos before you lost yours and sometimes it just don't make sense.... I was only scarred for life and you lost yours, this has all made me re-evaluate the meaning of life and how precious it is.... I am grateful for the 4 kids who saved you long enough for me to hold you one last time and let you know how much I loved you! But I am sorry Sissy....I couldn't fix it this time..... I miss you sooooooo much!!!!! I carry you with me every day wherever I go..... Always and forever....
