Search on for bank robbery suspect

Saturday, November 24, 2007

POLAND - Law enforcement officials are searching for a suspect believed to be involved in a robbery at the Poland branch of the First Financial Bank Friday afternoon.

Clay County Sheriff Mike Heaton said, "We're looking for a white male, approximately 6 feet tall, wearing sunglasses, baggy cargo pants, a Carhart style jacket and a baseball cap."

Witnesses said the get-away vehicle was dark green in color, but little else was known. The robbery was reported at around 3 p.m. The suspect did not show a weapon during the robbery, according to officials.

No one was injured during the robbery at the rural bank, which is currently closed until further notice.

This is not the first small town banking institution robbed in the Wabash Valley in the past month, or the first attempted bank robbery within Clay County this year.

Other robberies occurred in the area on Nov. 14 and June 7.
