LoBill building didn't sell

Saturday, December 1, 2007

The former LoBill Foods grocery store on Indianapolis Road in Greencastle did not sell at auction recently, but a company official is hopeful for a quick sale.

Marsh Supermarkets spokeswoman Connie Gardner declined to specify the number of bidders at the auction, or if anyone bid at all.

"Our expectations were not met," she said without expounding any further.

However, Gardner said Marsh is currently working with potential buyers of the building and hopes to reach an agreement soon.

"Hopefully that will happen in the very near future," she said.

The Greencastle LoBill Foods was among a long list of Indiana stores that Marsh announced it was closing due to financial restructuring in 2006.

The building has sat vacant since that time.

  • You're on the right track there, "McFly." I thought about the same thing when I first heard the building was empty, especially since that was where generations of bored kids were hanging-out in the lot.
