Tzouanakis students shop for a cause

In all, 150 third-grade students from Tzouanakis Elementary fanned out across Greencastle purchasing supplies for area charities.

Ben Richards (from left), 9, Joe January, 8, and Braden Pershing, 9, third-graders at Tzouanakis Elementary School, lined up to make their purchase at Dollar General, Tuesday. Seven third-grade classrooms traded in their annual holiday gift exchange for a fundraiser. The students took the cash, somewhere between $800 and $1,000, to local retailers and purchased food and supplies for the A-Way Home Shelter and the Putnam County Emergency Food Bank.
