DPU women move to 8-2

The sixth-ranked DePauw women improved to 8-2 on the season following a 60-45 win over visiting Ohio Northern. The Polar Bears dropped to 9-3 with the loss. The victory was DePauw's 17th straight home win and 36th consecutive regular season victory at the Neal Fieldhouse.

The Tigers never trailed in the win as they scored the game's first nine points over the opening 3:21. Ohio Northern pulled to within one on two occasions before the Tigers stretched the lead to as many as 19 points in the first half on the way to a 33-20 halftime lead. DePauw grabbed its biggest lead of the contest at 54-28 after Andrea Travelstead hit a free throw with 8:49 remaining.

Ohio Northern ented the contest with the nation's top three-point percentage, but were held to just 2-of-13 shooting beyond the arc and just 25.6 percent from the floor overall. The Tigers hit 42.9 percent from the field including 8-of-17 three-point shooting.

Gretchen Haehl and Jenna Fernandez each scored 16 in the win, while Cassie Pruzin matched a career-high with 12 rebounds as DePauw held a 42-26 advantage on the boards including 19 offensive rebounds. Pruzin also paced the Tigers with six assists.

Brittany Bogart led the Polar Bears with nine points and Erin Brand grabbed five rebounds.

The Tigers return to Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference action on Friday, January 4, when they host Sewanee at 6 p.m.
