DePauw women lose on road

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The 11th-ranked Tigers' four-game win streak came to an end at Birmingham-Southern as DePauw women's basketball dropped a 71-58 decision. DePauw slipped to 11-3 on the season, while the Panthers improved to 11-3.

The Tigers led by as many as six early in the contest but the Panthers scored 11 straight to take a 22-17 advantage. DePauw briefly closed the gap to three, but Birmingham-Southern went on another 11-0 run to push the margin to 33-19 on the way to a 37-24 halftime lead.

The Panthers' largest lead came at 57-30 with 12:57 remaining before the Tigers closed to within 15 with just over four minutes left.

DePauw shot just 38.6 percent from the field and only knocked down 3-of-18 three-pointers in the loss while matching a season-high with 25 turnovers. Birmingham-Southern hit 48.3 percent from the floor including 6-of-19 from beyond the arc.

Cassie Pruzin paced the Tigers with 21 points and five assists, while Gretchen Haehl added 15 points and four steals. Pruzin, Jenna Fernandez and Emily Marshall each grabbed six rebounds as DePauw held a 36-33 advantage on the boards.
