Butch Pettit

David Allen "Butch" Pettit Sr., 63, Greencastle, died Tuesday.

Born in Greencastle, he was the son of Harold and Mary (Goodman) Pettit.

He was employed at G.C. Murphy in Green-castle for 19 years, and at DePauw University for 20 years.

He was a long-time member of Greencastle Moose Lodge and had coached Putnam County Girls Softball, Babe Ruth and Little League ball teams.

Surviving are his wife, Frieda E. (Swim) Pettit; son David Allen Pettit Jr. and wife Tonya, Brazil; daughter Kim Perkins and husband Tim, Greencastle; three brothers, William Pettit and wife Sherry, Richard Pettit and wife Carol, and Ronald Pettit and wife Carol, all of Greencastle; eight grandchildren and a great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert Dale Pettit and sister Phyllis Coffman.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home, Greencastle, with Rev. Larry Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
