John J. Nelson, 85, Cloverdale, died Saturday at Putnam County Hospital.

Born in Madison Township, she was the daughter of Robert and Hazel (White) Nelson.

He had been a securities trader for Merchants National Bank for 22 years, and was later a statistician for the New York Central Railroad for 24 years. He was a member of the National Traders Association and St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church.

Surviving are his wife, Eleanor Boston Nelson; son Joseph Nelson, Cloverdale; and two grandchildren.

Private service will be conducted.

Chandler-Hays Funeral Home, Greencastle, is handling arrangements.
