Greencastle swimmers defeat Athenians

The Greencastle boys' swim team welcomed the Athenians of Crawfordsville Tuesday night, swimming away with the victory 104-81.

Greencastle's Luke Crimmins and Nick Stevens were multiple individual winners for the team. Crimmins dominated the 100-yard butterfly in a time of one minute flat and to the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 57:08. Stevens won the 200-yard IM in a time of 2:12.97 and the 100-yard freestyle in 52.07

Austin Woodall outpaced the field in the 500-yard freestyle, finishing with a time of 5:29.30.

GHS as a team swept the relays in dominating fashion. The team of Crimmins, Stevens, Miles Salman and Ryan Payne won the 200-yard medley relay in a time of 1:48.50. In the 200-yard freestyle relay Adam Clute, Jay Guffey, Luke Smith and Woodall teamed up to win with a time of 1:39.74; and in the final event of the night Stevens, Salman, Woodall and Crimmins scorched the field to win the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:37.38.

Greencastle will hit the road to face Tri-West at 6 p.m. Monday.
