Update: North Putnam cancels game

Tuesday, February 12, 2008

North Putnam High School has cancelled its Tuesday night boys basketball game against Tri-West.

That game is now rescheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 13, with the junior varsity to play at 6 p.m. and the varsity at 7:30 p.m.

Greencastle Community Schools dismissed students early Tuesday as sleet and ice continued to blanket Putnam County and increase road hazards.

Elementary students were being released at 1:30 p.m., with middle school and high school students to follow around 1:45 p.m.

No decision on delays or cancellation of classes on Wednesday had been made as of 1:30 p.m. The early dismissal was reported using the School Messenger phone notification system.

North Putnam and South Putnam schools reported no plans to dismiss early.

Due to icy road conditions, Cloverdale Schools have cancelled classes and all activities for Tuesday.

The high school boys basketball game against Edgewood has been postponed until Wednesday, Feb. 20. The junior varsity game will begin at 6 p.m. and the varsity start time is 7:30 p.m.

Also, the 7th/8th grade girls basketball game against Greencastle Middle School has been cancelled for Tuesday.

That game has been rescheduled for 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 18 at Cloverdale Middle School.

Parents should also note that even though President's Day had been scheduled as a holiday for both Greencastle and Cloverdale schools, it will be used as a snow make-up day and classes will be in session for both school districts.

Also, South Putnam schools will be in session on Monday as a make-up day.

As of Tuesday, however, the North Putnam school district is still planning to observe no classes on the President's Day holiday.
