Clover 7th grade defeats GMS

CLOVERDALE -- After a low-scoring first quarter, the Cloverdale seventh grade girls' basketball team ran away from Greencastle for a 49-17 victory Monday night.

Although the Clovers led just 4-2 after the opening frame, they had stretched the lead to 19-11 at halftime.

In the second half, it got worse for the Tiger Cubs, as the Clovers outscored them 30-6 after the break. The Clovers actually had an 18-point fourth quarter.

Cloverdale's Paige Gruener's led all scorers with 20 points, including 18 in the second half. Bristy Skiles and Sydney Shrum were next for Cloverdale with six points each.

For the Tiger Cubs, Ellen Gobert and Christy Miller each had six points.

Next game -- Cloverdale travels to Eminence at 6 p.m.Thursday while Greencastle visits South Putnam at 6 p.m. Thursday.
