Before starting her service in the treasurer's office, she had more than 21 years of accounting and bookkeeping experience in the private sector.

Owens has been deputy treasurer for Putnam County the past eight years. Her job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, reconciling monthly bank statements, entries and balancing of county funds ledger, balancing the daily sheet and check register, filing of quarterly reports for inheritance tax collections, coding and filing claims for bankruptcies, issue mobile home moving and title transfer permits, file monthly treasurer's reports and work closely with the county auditor's office in balancing the county funds ledger. She also has knowledge of county investing and real estate tax sales.

"I strive to make the treasurer's office more informative, helpful and courteous to all taxpayers," Owens says. "I will also be an advocate in trying to provide taxpayers the option of paying their taxes online by checking, credit or debit card. I will bring the office up to date with all the conveniences available to the public at this time.

"I would like the opportunity to work with all county office holders in leading our country into the future. I feel my experience and knowledge of the duties of the treasurer's office will be of great value to the residents of Putnam County. I would appreciate your support in the May primary. Let's make a difference together."
