Irene Walden
Irene "Reene" Walden, 98, Brazil, died Thursday at Clay County Health Center.
Born in Carbon, Ind., she was the daughter of Lee and Lottie (Pell) Hillis.
She was a member of the Van Buren Home Economics Club and the Lena Good Neighbors Club. She was a past member of the Carbon Eastern Star and the Ebenezer Ladies Aid, and a lifetime member of Ebenezer Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Geraldine "Gerri" Wells and husband Marvin, Brazil, four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews and extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dale Walden,
brothers John B. Pell and Raymond Hillis and sister Thelma Hillis.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Lawson-Miller Chapel, Brazil, with Pastor Bill Price officiating. Burial will follow at Calcutta Cemetery.
Visitation is 11 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Ebenezer Church Building Fund.
