Cougars win in overtime thriller

BAINBRIDGE -- The North Putnam eighth grade girls' basketball team won an overtime game against Greencastle Monday. They won with what their coach called "a great team effort."

North led all the way up until the last 20 seconds of the fourth, when Greencastle tied it up at 21.

In the overtime, North Putnam jumped ahead quickly, scoring a basket on the first possession and then a three-pointer on their next possession. Finally, after using up time on the scoreboard, the Cougars came away with the win, 28-23.

Leading scorer for North Putnam was Maggie Pinney with 10 points. Bridget Johnston was next with eight and Kensy Asbell added six.

Greencastle was led by Hannah Wainman with 11 points.
