Fox 59 news recently visited South Putnam High School for their spot called "How Cool Is Your School." The story will air at 6:40 a.m. as well as 8:40 a.m. Wednesday. They will also run the story on Sunday at 10 p.m.
The South Putnam School Board also awarded Mr. Brad Hayes with a plaque to commemorate Fillmore Elementary's recent four-star ranking. Many teachers and administrators from Fillmore were present.
In other business:
* A maintenance report was presented to the board to outline what is in need of updating or replacing for future spending projections. The most pressing issue right now is the walk-in freezer in the kitchen which needs replaced.
* The first reading of ESCRFT Recommended Policies were read which outlines high liability issues. Seven new policies were spoken about, Non-Discrimination/Equal opportunity policy, Personal backgrounds checks, sexual harassment prohibition for students as well as one for staff, volunteers at the school, child abuse & neglect and development of school guidelines. This will be voted on at the April meeting.
* Superintendent Bruce Bernhardt also gave notice that there will be school on Friday April 25 to make up for a snow day.
The South Putnam School Board meets regularly the third Monday of every month at 7 p.m. in the Central Elementary Music Room.
