Resident would like to see a lower speed limit

To the editor:

I really believe people should not be allowed to drive a car until they can prove that not only can they read they can understand and obey the street signs they are reading.

Washington Street in Bainbridge in town is marked at 20 mph and very few people do less than 40. I would love to see them get it down to 30. Even the police cannot do the speed limit. I understand the road is a major thoroughfare and a straight shot to where you are going, but doing 50 through a residential area is unacceptable.
