Mary C. McGaughey 101, of Avon (Hearth of Prestwick Assisted Living) formerly of Russellville, Ind. for 95 years went home to be with the Lord on March 28, 2008 after a brief illness at the St.Vincent Hospice in Indianapolis.

Mary was born on June 30, 1906 to the late Frank and Nettie Scott McGill at Portland Mills, Ind. In 1924 Mary graduated Valedictorian with honors from Russellville High School, Russellville, Ind.

In 1925, Mary married Paul McGaughey. They were happily married 63 years before Paul's death in 1988.

Mary's greatest enjoyment was spending time with and doing things for her family. Mary was blessed with many years of fulfillment as a farm wife in the Russellville community. Together with her husband Paul they raised and sold registered Polled Hereford Cattle.

Mary was a wonderful cook, gardener and also doing needlework. She made quilts for all six of her grandchildren. In the spring she loved to go mushroom hunting.

Mary was a member of the Russellville Community Church for countless years. She spent many hours of dedication to Ladies Aid and Church Quilting. She was a Past Worthy Matron of Eastern Star.

Mary was involved with her family's 4-H activities at the County and State Fairs. Mary also traveled to various Polled Hereford Activities with Paul.

Mary was an avid Purdue and Indiana Pacer's fan. She was honored on March 4, 2007 as Purdue's oldest living fan by the (Never Too Late Foundation). Our special thanks to Bob Haverstick with Never Too Late Foundation.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband Paul, Son Morris (Buddy) McGaughey, Son-In-Law Dick Perry, 3 great Granddaughters, 2 Sisters and 3 brothers.

Mary is survived by her daughter Hazel Perry of Brownsburg, Six Grandchildren Shirley Perry of Indianapolis, Beverly (Jim) Adams and Pamela (Ray) Wadell-Mutter of Brownsburg, Suzanne (Mark) Stern of Kewanee, IL, Steven (Roxanne) McGaughey of Roachdale, David (Anita) McGaughey of Lafayette, 9 Great Grandchildren, 2 Great Great Grandchildren, Daughter-In-Law Jacque McGaughey of Russellville, and special niece Pat (Dave) Bowles of Leo , Indiana

Services will be held at the Russellville Community Church on Wednesday April 2, 2008 at 11 a.m. Visitation will be on Tuesday April 1, 2008 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Church. Rev.'s James and Kathy Elliott will officiate.

Burial will be at the Hebron Cemetery in Russellville, Ind. Donations in Mary McGaughey's memory may be made to Never Too Late Foundation at 8538 Tidewater Dr., Indianapolis, IN 46236.
