Cougars defeat Clovers 2-0

Tuesday, April 15, 2008

BAINBRIDGE -- In a pitcher's dual at North Putnam Monday, Cloverdale's Nicole Mowery allowed just three base runners and one hit. Unfortunately for the Clovers, that one hit was Dakota Malayer's fourth-inning, two-run home run that made the difference in the game, as the Cougars (4-2, 3-2 WCC) won 2-0.

"It was a well-pitched game," Cougar coach Jim Brothers said.

The Clovers had the chance to draw first blood in the third inning when they left the bases loaded. They stranded five runners on the night.

Winning pitcher Taylor Judy struck out thirteen while allowing three hits and a walk.

Mowery struck out five while allowing the two runs to take the loss.

The teams face off again tonight at 4:30 p.m. at Cloverdale.
