Eagle baseball moves to 6-0 in WCC play

MONROVIA -- The South Putnam baseball team pushed its WCC record to 6-0 Tuesday with an 8-1 win over Monrovia.

Noah Boswell was the starting pitcher for South Putnam and held a no hitter for 6-and-a-third innings. Boswell had 10 strikeouts and gave up just one hit. Freshman Grant Zimmerman came in relief to close out the game, getting the last two outs without allowing a run.

The Eagles had an explosive start as Cameron Chestnut led off the first inning with a solo home run. The next batter Adam Hammond followed up with his own solo home run to give the Eagles an early 2-run lead.

Hammond was 4-for-4 at the plate with a home run, two singles, and a double.

The Eagles visit Danville at 6 p.m. today.
