Putnam Scanner for April 23, 2008

Numerous accidents were reported recently by the Putnam County Sheriff's Department.

* On April 18, Cathy May, 49, Reelsville, was traveling eastbound at 4:48 a.m. on U.S. 40 when three deer ran in front of her. She said she was unable to avoid hitting one.

Damage estimates were between $2,500 - $5,000.

* At 10:35 a.m. on April 18, Elizabeth Evans, 34, Russellville, said she was approaching the intersection of U.S. 231 and U.S. 36 when her brakes went to the floor. She couldn't avoid rear-ending Ray Fletcher, 76, Lebanon.

Damage was reported between $1,000 - $2,500.

* On April 19, Marilyn Klein, 63, McMurray, Pa., was traveling westbound at 3:30 p.m. on Interstate 70. She noticed that a semi was approaching her vehicle. She turned her SUV with attached trailer to the right and lost control, overturning on the side of the roadway.

Damage estimates were between $10,000 - $25,000.

* At 11:15 a.m. on April 20, Kathleen Oreovicz, 41, Coatesville, was heading west on CR 700 South near Cloverdale when the car went off the right side of the road hitting an embankment and rolled over twice. She was transported to Putnam County Hospital where her blood alcohol content was reported at .314.

Damage estimates were between $10,000 - $25,000.
