The Greencastle boys' golf team defeated visiting Tri-West Tuesday, 160-185. With the win, the Tiger Cubs move to 4-1 on the season.

Senior Eric Davis rebounded from a tough outing earlier in the week to shoot a 38. Nick Pritchard followed closely with a 39, while Luke Crimmins shot a 41, Jim Wheeler a 42 and Wade Huber carded a 44.

"Nick's starting to settle down and he's getting better at putting disasters behind him and playing the next shot at hand," GHS head coach Donovan Wheeler said. "He had a crazy round; a couple three-putts and a four-putt. Not many teenagers are going to open with two triples in the first three holes and then go one-under on the next five, with another bogey they're to boot. That's seriously playing in the moment."

Greencastle's junior varsity also handed the Bruins a loss, with a 194-221 win.

The junior varsity was led by Tyler Wade's 46. Tyler Hopkins and Brett Scheuermann each shot 47, with Dakota Miller adding a 54 and Seth Miller a 60.

Despite a 4-1 record, Wheeler is still looking for his Tiger Cubs to break through to another level. He believes that if they can control the mental aspect of the game, there's no telling what they can do. Any difficulties his Tiger Cubs are dealing with, Wheeler is taking full responsibility.

"We're coming around, but we're nowhere near where our talent level should put us," Wheeler explained. "The problems are mental; they deal with confidence, course management, and general decision-making; and all of the blame falls on me. I felt like we were ready in March to just step right in and pick up where we left off after our great finish last June. In other words, I over-played my hand and scared everyone off the table before I could build up the pot.

"Now it's time to re-deal, and Wednesday's practice is going to be sort of like the first practice of the season in many ways," Wheeler concluded.
