Friday, April 25, 2008

The North Putnam Middle School baseball squad dropped its second straight contest with a 4-2 loss to Crawfordsville Wednesday.

A Cougar miscue in the top of the fourth inning led to an unearned run. The Athenians added another in the fifth and two in the sixth to get the win.

In the seventh inning, the Cougars mounded a comeback. Brandon Kimmel, Jerry Shepherd and Austin Day got hits in the inning. North Putnam scored two runs in the inning but their charge stalled.

Blake Knowling pitched five innings for the Cougars, giving up three hits while striking out seven.

The Cougars (3-2) will travel to Martinsville today at 6 p.m.
