Greencastle baseball drops close contest with Crawfordsville

Tuesday, April 29, 2008

The Greencastle baseball team may have lost on Saturday, but it more than held its own against fifth-ranked Crawfordsville. GHS starter Trey Ford gave up just three hits and two unearned runs on the way to a 2-0 loss.

"Trey Ford did a great job of keeping Crawfordsville hitters off-balance all game," GHS coach Troy Greenlee said.

Ford kept the Tiger Cubs (2-10, 2-4 WCC) in the game with the 13-2 Athenians right up until the final out. However, GHS was never able to string together enough offense to get on the board.

Greencastle offense picked up six hits, with Jeremy Hayden leading the way with a pair of singles.

Greencastle's Monday game with Monrovia was postponed until 5 p.m. Wednesday. The Tiger Cubs will visit the Bulldogs at 5 p.m. today.
