Greencastle junior Ashton Marshall picked up wins in the 100 and 200 Thursday night.

Greencastle captured nine events in Thursday's four-way meet with Cloverdale, Speedway and Monrovia en route to a 31-point win. Greencastle was first with 92 points, while Cloverdale came in fourth with a total of 29.

The wind battered athletes from the four schools all evening. However, Greencastle and Cloverdale posted impressive times and geared up for a week of heavy competition next week.

"It was a little windy tonight but the guys did really well," GHS head coach Mike Schimpf said.

Ashton Marshall and Ben Wilson grabbed two individual win on the evening each. Marshall earned his by taking the 100-meter with a time of 11.4 and the 200 in a time of 23.3. Ben Wilson posted impressive times in the 1,600 meter and 800 meter runs. His times were 5:02.4 and 2:14.1 respectively.

Greg Lilly captured the 400-meter in a time of 55.5, while Nick Walkosak skied past Monrovia's Hickey in the pole vault with a height of 10 feet.

GHS long jumper Jordan Hickam soars throught the air during Thursday's meet with Cloverdale, Speedway and Monrovia. Hickam finished fourth with a jump of 19-6 as Greencastle won the meet with 92 total points.

Greencastle also capture all three relays on the night.

In the 3,200-meter relay, GHS won with a time of 9:22.2, while the 1,600-meter relay team was victorious in a time of 3:43.4. In the 400-meter relay, Greencastle pushed past Monrovia for the win with the time of 45.7.

After spending much of the season on the road, Schimpf commented how good it felt to be back home even with the far from perfect.

"It was good to be home," he said. "We started the season here and now it's finally "OK, its time for county and conference" and we're back home. I'm really pleased with the performances."

For Cloverdale, Nick Keefer finished second in the 110-meter hurdles, finishing just .5 seconds out of first place with the time of 16.7. He also was second in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 42.5. Raine Young finished second in the long jump with a leap of 20-5.

When asked after the meet how she felt her squad did, Cloverdale head coach Kristen Crabtree acknowledged that her team competed hard but would have like to see better times.

"Not too bad," she said. "We had a few get their best times in their events. As a team, they might not have done as well as we would have liked, but we had some pretty good individual performances. We (the coaches) were impressed with that due to the conditions we had tonight."

Both Schimpf and Crabtree said they would primarily stick to their game plans with county, conference and sectional just around the corner.

"They're still improving on their time and that's what it's all about," Schimpf said. "Practice wise, it will be similar to what we've done in year's past."

Greencastle and Cloverdale will compete at the county meet Tuesday at 5 p.m.

Cloverdale junior Nick Keefer clears the hurdle during the 110 meter hurdles Thursday night. Keefer finished second in the event and Cloverdale was fourth overall with 29 total points.
