Cougars capture Covington Invitational

COVINGTON -- The North Putnam golf team won its third straight Covington Invitational, shooting a 332 in windy conditions Saturday at Rivercrest Golf Course.

South Putnam finished eighth with a 393.

Jeremy Redman was the Cougars' leading scorer with an 81. He was also involved in a playoff for third medalist.

"Jeremy has been playing the best golf for us the last several weeks," North coach Dave Fox said.

J.J. Burns and Aaron Vondersaar were next for North, each firing an 82. Austin Malayer and Patrick Byrd each shot 87.

For the Eagles, Tyler Newby was the low man with an 86. Dylan Gilbert was next with a 98. Michael Nichols shot a 104 while Damon Robinson closed out the scoring with a 105.

Tyler Shoffner also shot a 106 for the Eagles.

North Putnam visits Danville at 4:30 p.m. today. South Putnam visits Deer Creek for a three-way meet with Monrovia and Owen Valley at 4:30 today.
