Byrd leads Cougars to big victory

COVINGTON -- The North Putnam golf team fired a 160 Tuesday night, defeating North Vermillion and Riverton Parke handily.

Cougar Coach Dave Fox said his team generally does well at Rivercrest Golf Course, where they have won three straight Covington Invitationals.

"The kids really like the course in Covington, even though they had just aerated the greens," Fox said.

North senior Patrick Byrd was medalist with a 38. J.J. Burns was next with a 40. Austin Malayer and Jeremy Redman each fired a 41.

Aaron Vondersaar had a 44 while Kyle Smith added a 45.

The Cougars visit Fountain Central at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
